MDBH Call for Student Posters
The Midwest Big Data Hub is inviting student poster proposal submissions for its All-hands Meeting on October 29-30, 2019 in Rosemont, IL (Chicago).
*Submit your poster proposal here* (submission deadline: September 20)
Poster Submissions Guidelines:
Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit an abstract for review. Posters will present ongoing research on data related issues OR work on production-level data infrastructure, in relation to this year’s general event theme: “AI and Data for Innovative Research and Decision-Making.” The student must be the lead author. A student may be on multiple posters, but may submit only one abstract as a lead author.
Poster reviews: Abstracts will be reviewed for thematic fit, quality and relevance of the research to current domain problems, or application of infrastructure to supporting data management, access, and/or use. We have space to accept up to 8-10 posters.
Timeline: The submission deadline for poster proposals is September 20. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by September 27.
Poster session: At least one student author (or co-author) per poster must attend the meeting, and will be expected to present the poster during the Poster session on October 29. Each presenter can only present one poster.
Travel support: The MBDH will waive registration fees and provide travel support for one student presenter per poster in the form of two nights of lodging (Monday Oct. 28 & Tuesday Oct. 29). Students receiving hotel nights must reside more than 20 miles away from the conference location. Please note that *airfare and ground transportation are not covered by the proposed travel support*.
